About Alma Ramirez
Owner and broker in San Miguel de Allende since 1995
30 Years. One City. A Lifetime of Local Knowledge.
Local knowledge. Real experience. Personal attention.
I have been a real estate broker and owner in San Miguel de Allende since 1995. For more than three decades I have helped buyers and sellers find their way through one of Mexicoās most distinctive property markets, with local knowledge, professional integrity, long relationships, and a personal approach to every transaction.
More Than Three Decades in San Miguel Real Estate
1995 ā I began my career as a real estate broker in San Miguel de Allende and built my own office, Colonial Real Estate.
Three decades ā Building relationships, representing buyers and sellers, and learning San Miguelās market as it grew and changed.
2010 ā As San Miguelās international profile grew, I widened my network and adapted how I work to serve a more international clientele, on a foundation of personal relationships, referrals, local knowledge, and hands-on service.
2020 ā Colonial Homes San Miguel became part of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices. A new chapter, with the same office and the same people behind it.
Today ā I still personally lead the office and work with clients directly, with the same commitment to integrity, professionalism, and local knowledge I started with.
A Front-Row Seat to San Miguel's Evolution
San Miguel de Allende has changed a great deal since 1995. What was mainly a local market has become an internationally recognised destination for homeowners, investors and second-home buyers. Neighbourhoods have evolved, the market has grown more sophisticated, and what international clients need has changed with it. I have evolved alongside the city. Across more than three decades, I have kept expanding what I know, strengthened my network, and adapted how I work, while holding onto the values that have guided me from the start: integrity, honesty, responsiveness, professionalism, and personal responsibility.
San Miguelās international profile has climbed steadily over the past decade, with the city repeatedly named among the best in the world by publications such as CondĆ© Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure. That recognition has drawn interest across every price point, from homes under $400,000 to estates above $4 million.

What 30 Years in San Miguel Gives You
- Local knowledge. Not only of properties and neighbourhoods, but of San Miguel itself and how its market has moved over time.
- Long-standing relationships. Three decades of working with the local professionals a transaction depends on: legal, notarial, construction, architectural and property services.
- Market perspective. The ability to read todayās market through someone who has lived through its cycles firsthand.
- Experience and negotiation. Practical help evaluating opportunities, setting realistic expectations, negotiating carefully and working through the process.
- Continuity. A broker who has stayed personally involved in this one market for more than thirty years.
There is one advantage I cannot add to a rƩsumƩ: I am Mexican, I was raised here, and I have worked in this market for most of my life. For an international buyer, that means a broker who reads both sides of a transaction- the local process and the expectations you arrive with- and can bridge them.
That local grounding sits alongside global reach. I am a Certified Luxury Collection Specialist and a member of Whoās Who in Luxury Real Estate and the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Luxury Collection, which connect my listings to a network of more than 4,000 luxury specialists and to buyers well beyond San Miguel.
How I Work
A local perspective you can trust
Good representation starts with listening. Every client arrives with different goals and circumstances. Whether it is a first home in San Miguel, a second residence, an investment or the sale of a longtime home, I take the time to understand what matters to you. My approach is simple: listen carefully, give honest information, anticipate the challenges, explain the process clearly, and stay personally involved from the first conversation to closing.
Buying in San Miguel is different, and experience matters
For international buyers, buying in Mexico raises questions that go well beyond finding the right home. My team and I help you work through the professionals and steps a Mexican transaction involves: due diligence, legal and notarial coordination, escrow, documentation, closing, and the practical side of becoming a homeowner here. The goal is to make it clear and comfortable, especially when you are buying from outside the country.
Selling is more than putting a home on the market
A good sale starts long before the listing goes live. I work with sellers to understand the property, position it in the current market, set realistic expectations, build the right marketing, and coordinate the details a sale depends on. From preparation through negotiation, legal coordination and closing, my focus is on protecting your interests and keeping things moving.

What My Clients Say
Your referral is the best compliment I can earn!
It is with pleasure that we write this review. Alma is exceedingly skilled at service and a professional in every regard. Alma helped us throughout the process of buying our home. She stayed with us throughout the process, researching, giving us advice, and taking the time to make us feel fully represented. She is polite, respectful, and, above all, a superb human being.
Michael Baiad
We contacted several local realtors but no one seemed to have the time for a proper Zoom call to talk about the dynamics of the market and the various SMA neighborhoods when we were so early in the buying journey. Yet, Alma made the time for that call and took the time to understand who we are. More importantly, she translated that conversation into meaningful options for us to consider. Her team is also very professional.
John Gerhardt
Alma did an excellent job selling my house. She and her team are organized, efficient, professional and bilingual. They protected my interests and worked hard to help me make sure that I got the best deal possible. They excelled in communicating with me throughout the whole process and patiently answered my many questions. Berkshire Hathawayās name recognition gave me peace of mind.

Three Decades of Client Relationships
After more than three decades in San Miguel real estate, my greatest asset is not the number of years. It is what those years have taught me. Markets change, neighbourhoods change, technology changes how homes are marketed, and clientsā expectations change with them. I keep learning and adapting, while holding to the personal service and integrity that have defined my work from the beginning.
